I’m just going to throw out that I really don’t care if this thing ever gets done. I’ve been on vacation and switching to a new job. I also skip posts where I’m working on things that just aren’t interesting. In my last post the first few pictures were of the cabinet over the fridge. I have spent a lot of time looking at that cabinet and knowing that it is just wrong. I decided that I couldn’t live with it. I took it down and a couple of my friends found the actual issue. I rebuilt part of it, and we put it back up. That was a ton of work.
Deciding what to do with that cabinet and how to do it, has halted my progress. Now that’s fixed I can get back to work. Today the grout was installed. “Normal grout” is similar to cement. So it has to be sealed just like cement. It can stain just like cement. I requires maintenance (which most people don’t do) I was concerned about the white grout staining behind my stove. So I reached out to a friend who knows about this sort of thing and he recommended epoxy grout. Which is what I went with .
There is a lot of prep work with this stuff. You don’t want to get it on anything. It was more difficult to install than regular grout. But it looks great, and it should never stain, so it was worth it.
Standard epoxy mixing. “mix part A with part B”. It’s worth noting that part A smells like wet donkey ass.
There was a lot of wiping the walls down with different solutions. But ultimately, it cleaned up very nicely.
got the hood back up. I still need to add the extension ( I couldn’t find it).
This is what the tile above the window looks like. I think it’s a nice touch.
